EXPERIENCE

My job responsibilities include structural analysis and detailed design of bridges and related infrastructure elements in compliance with AASHTO, Eurocode, IRC, BS using software such as CSI Bridge, SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, Tekla, Geo5 and others. Prepare detailed engineering calculations, structural reports, and technical documentation and Coordinate with geotechnical engineers. Supervise the preparation of shop drawings for bridges and structural components, ensuring alignment with IFC drawings and design intent.

Design Tasks Performed in My Current Role

  • Analysis and external stability of luffing jib tower cranes (10-to-18-ton capacity with 25 m height and 55 m jib length) for wind (160 Km/h) considering different attack angles and moment generated from un-balanced loads in “In service” & “out of service” cases. Design of foundations for analysis cases for anchored (fixing angles) and un-anchored shafts (balanced by base ballast weight). Design of foundations for additional super imposed dead loads from bridge deck scaffolding load and vehicle movement over partial footing based on Eurocodes and Using In-house developed excel sheets and Tekla Tedds.
  • Developed a structural assessment report for the temporary bearing plate replacement following the prestressing stage during bridge construction. A detailed FEA model of the entire 5-span box girder bridge was created in CSI Bridge to evaluate the effects of jacking displacements on adjacent bearings and to determine the corresponding jack loads.
  • Design of structural steel assembly inserted into lifting fork to remove the bridge gantry braced I beams under the bridge deck using CSI SAP.
  • Design of temporary shoring system using steel I beams with concrete laggings to support the excavation of 4 m for pile caps using Geo5 and Tekla based on Eurocode.
  • Design of shoring system of sheet piles with struts for jacking and receiving shafts for micro tunnel boring machine to avoid water seepage due to high water table level using DeepEX.
  • Performed analysis of the central 58 m span box girder for Stage-I prestressing to evaluate top and bottom fiber stresses and deflections under dead load and partial prestressing, using an in-house developed Excel tool and CSI Bridge in accordance with AASHTO LRFD. The objective was to verify whether the scaffolding beneath the 16.15 m wide multicell box girder could be safely removed after completion of Stage-I prestressing.
  • Performed 5 span cast in place 3 cell box girder bridge analysis for stressing stage-I & II with the presence of temporary openings in the central 58 m span for luffing crane (In cantilever) and jack lowering (3 openings in top slab, 1 in each cell) and checked the bridge deck capacities (Stresses and Moments) considering self-weight & barrier load. The results shows that the moment resistance and stresses at top fiber of bridge deck are within permissible limits of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
  • Review of Shop drawings and BBS as per issued for construction drawings from the design consultant.
